Tong-Il Moo-Do 7days Workshop in Japan

New japanese black belts

The training was 3 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon everyday from April 29th to May 5th. We spent evenings in studying TIMD using Dr. Seuk's paper on "Tong Il Moo Do and the Providence of the Second Generation", sharing testimonies, and practicing self-defense.

This time 2 Philippine masters participated. They were blessed with Japanese sisters and are living in Japan. Their testimonies gave us such a great benefit.

Through the participation and testimonies of these 2 Philippine brothers, I felt somehow TIMD of Japan could inherit the victorious foundation of TIMD of Philippine in this seminar.

Gradually the trainees began to be involved in the training seriously, and improved well within just 7 days. Sometimes they stayed up so late practicing the techniques.

There was only one sister, E. Seto, among the participants. She was at first disappointed surrounded by brothers, but she fulfilled the entire schedule on her own initiative. Though she was hurt on her shoulder muscle during the practice of the falling, she pushed herself up to the promotion test.

There were some who had never experienced martial arts. But I was moved by their sincere efforts to master the techniques. They were trying so hard to catch up others by practicing during lunch time and asking the instructors many questions actively.

During the seminar, the encouraging message from Dr. Seuk, the president of World TIMD, arrived. All of us were given great hope.

The promotion test is the fruit of all the investment during 7 days and also the time of testing own ability. 4 instructors who were the judges during the promotion test were impressed by the trainees managing all the techniques of basics, forms, throwing, falling, one step sparring, free sparring, self-defense(the techniques to defend themselves against grabbing, and knife), oral test, etc.

5 brothers who challenged for their conditional black belts demonstrated 5 forms(up to Chum Gajung Eui Bon)adding 2 forms to 3 forms required to all the trainees. And each of them fought 12 people during the free sparring. They have shown us great fighting spirit.

Let me mention something more to be so grateful for this time. After the hard training shedding so much sweat, we could go to the hot-spring every day. The hot-spring has a good reputation for enhancing health among those who live there. It released all our fatigue and provided us the place of friendship.
