International Tong-Il Moo-Do Workshop in Japan

Japan, Tokyo Sept. 22-29, 2002

The workshop was held from Sept. 22 to 29 at Izu Seminar House in Shizuoka. There were 6 instructors from Korea, USA, Philippine and Japan in addition there were 16 students who participated. 3 were promoted to black belt, 2 brown belt, 6 blue belts, 4 green belt, the total of 22 participants.

Great success was evident from the testimony and the deep appreciation to all those who made this training possible.

IOne of the high lights of the workshop was the praise given by the 6 degree black belt judo instructor who is the president of the judo association of Mishima City, and had won 3rd place of the judo competition of all Japan. His students currently hold 1st and 2nd place in competition throughout Japan.

He said, I. I have never seen such affective and practical self-defense system as that of Tong-II Moo-Do. I want this art to be spread throughout Japan starting from this city and this training hall." He was so moved that he participated in the classes of Ton-II Moo-Do system taught by the international instructor, Don Harbour. All the students were amazed by his humble attitude and deep heart.

The students were given great hope and inspiration by learning the various aspects of martial arts taught by the dedicated instructors. (circular and linear motion). Many of them greatly improved from the first workshop given, indicating their desire to train hard between seminars.

To conclude this seminar, all students challenging for black belts demonstrated their fighting spirit by sparring 16 opponents. One student in particular said, "For the first time, I understood the value of circular motion. During my sparring, I totally run out of energy, and then I started to use circular motion which requires less energy. Surprisingly I could continue with no problem. Circular motion enabled me to win my black belt".

All participants including instructors would like to give their utmost appreciation and gratitude to all of the staff and those who gave financial and spiritual support to make this workshop successful. We specially appreciate Dr. Seuk because without his inspiration and full support this workshop would not be possible.
