The seminar began with the opening ceremony on the 13th February 2004. The participants consisted of 23 Tong-Il Moo-Do local instructors and leaders from the Clubs in Abidjan and other cities. The main goal of the seminar was to train the instructors and the leaders to acquire both the technical and internal skills to enable them expand the TIMD activities by opening more clubs and introducing it to other established institutions.
The lectures were able to cover extensively on the new philosophy of martial arts volume 1, the IEF material on the need for education on character and the three life goals. On the Tong-IL Moo-Do philosophy, the Tenets, Purpose, the meaning and the underlying principle of the linear forms from number 1 to number 7.
During the lectures there was special emphasis learning and how to make the knowledge practical in life, how to become the true models in the society, to multiply goodness and more important, to have a broad vision toward contribution to a peaceful world. Finally, on learning and practicing True Love as a basis of cultivating the heart.
On the technical training the participants were able to perfect on the Basics (stances, punches, blocks, strikes and kicks). The advanced techniques (double blocks, reverse kicks, and reverse jumping kicks)
The Linear forms, we were able to revise and standardize from number 1,2,3,4 and 5. Then systematically practised form number 6 and number 7.
The circular motion included the basic movements and the application. Then the circular motion forms from number 1 to number 4.
In preparation for the one-step sparring, we covered the basic falls and the basic throws (Reaping: major and minor, both inner and outer, shoulder throw, body drop, etc). Revision on one-step sparring formation stage, Growth stage, and then introduced the Completion stage.
The participants were able to learn and practice the Multiple Free Sparring. This was quite challenging, but through strong determination it was possible.
Tong-Il Moo-Do self defence included: defence against grabs (same hand, two hands, cross hands and shoulder grab), chokes and locks.
Another new introduction was the form of Peace, which all the participants were able to learn and could be able to perform well.
On the 19th February 2004 in the afternoon was the promotion test. Present during the promotion test was the Local Regional Church leader Rev. Dena Parfait. He also played an important role in helping to book the Venue for the Seminar. The participants were able to display the skills they had learned. The highest level attained was Brown belt with one black stripe.
The closing ceremony took place on 20th February 2004 in the morning. During the ceremony, the closing message from Dr. Seuk was read to the participants, after which they received their certificates.
The Seminar was a great success, it had a high spirit and operated under a very competitive atmosphere, in that the participants had to create their own time to learn what they had either missed or they did not know.
At the end of the seminar the participants pledged to train hard, and determined to become good examples to the society so as to be able to educate the community through their deeds or actions.
They also pledged to study the IEF character education materials and the TIMD philosophy to digest and understand very well as a preparation to teach other people.
They also determined to perform powerful demonstrations in various institutions and open many clubs as a way of working towards achievement of this year's goal.
