Since January 2004, WTMF Philippines focuses its activities on consolidation and education of existing TIMD instructors nationwide. I initiated the education by visiting every chapters and making them feel that we care for them.
Each region continued their own TIMD activities such as regular training and promotion, week-ends seminars for the new members and, some regions are involved in participating open tournaments.
On March 1-7, 2004, it was our 7days National Convention of TIMD Instructors nationwide. There are exactly 50 participants, 26 black belt holders and 24 brown belt holders. No participants lower than brown belt. The rationale behind the convention are as follows:
To set a national standard on TIMD instructions, forms and techniques, and etc.
Reorganization and selection of new officers.
# The 7days national convention event was organized through the following:
First 2 days - WTMF lectures on its philosophy based on the 4 volumes (IEF model). Lecturers are: Federico Niduasa, Celso Talaba, Edgar Tanate, Venus Agustin, and Jaime Vergara.
3rd - 6th day - TIMD training in the whole morning activities and ARNIS (native Filipino martial arts) in the afternoon session. This was in cooperation with the Master Joey Sumiller, the President of MAFWP Philippines, wherein he brought 2 well-known person who are expert in the Arnis techniques, a core member of MAFWP and believes in the TIMD Philosophy, their name are Lyndon and Kari of LSAI. We incorporate Arnis into our TIMD system in order to attract more new members internally but at the same time, to enhance our higher belt to have the glance of knowing armed techniques by using sticks. After dinner, we utilized the night on the following topics of concern: 1) Open forum; 2) Video Showing; 3) Committee Meeting and Evaluation; 4) Reporting by region; and 5) Writing Reflection.
7th day - Survivor's Training Course (STC) at Subic, Olongapo City. This last day of our convention was sponsored by our Continental Directors Dr. & Mrs. B.W. Kim of Asia. Mrs. Julia Kim personally joined us all through the morning activities. First of all, we did training and demonstration in the morning and it was witnessed by Mrs. Julia Kim. In the afternoon, we organized to prepare for the "Survivor's Training Course", in the jungle by forming 8 teams including the staff. The basic rule of the course are as follows: 1) no water; 2) no celphone or radios; 3) no compass. Everybody will just wear TIMD Dobok with Arnis (stick) as our weapon plus one forest guide per 2 teams.
In the middle of the forest, through the guide, we learned the following: 1) how to drink water using the different type of vines that produces water; 2) how to make fire and cook rice using the bamboo tree; 3) understanding the different plants and trees that are helpful for us to survive the course; 4) teamwork to reach our goal. It was very educational and spiritual enriching for all the participants. They all testified that the "survivor's training course" taught them a lesson something that they can enhance their efficiency and productivity in fulfilling their task when they will go back to their respective regions.
