The 5 days Tong-Il Moo-Do seminar was consisted of around 40 participants drawn from three main clubs of the Coast Province. The seminar comprised of the training with the focus on the next years plan of expansion and the introduction of more new TIMD clubs in the Schools and other educational institutions. It also marked the 3rd anniversary of the Police Dog Unit Tong-Il Moo-Do Club. Members were given technical training on advanced self defense, ballet and forms.
There was also a briefing on international Tong-IL Moo-Do tournament rules and regulations which will be used in the upcoming events.
Training for the juniors focused on the basics, circular motion forms, learning and rehearsing the form of peace. The seniors and higher belt holders trained on the advanced techniques, learnt and rehearsed the Eye of the Tiger ballet, and one step sparring.
The seminar which was training for the province instructors also had character education lectures on morality and ethics to enrich members' discipline. It also included the Universal values and Basic Life Goals.
Training at the Beach
As a promotional activity, we had one afternoon training and demonstration at the beach where many people had a chance to watch.
Techniques displayed included: Basics, Circular motion forms, linear forms, and self defense.
Public Relations
Series of meetings with various leaders were conducted. Meeting with the District sports officer, where he was very supportive on the idea of introducing TIMD training in other parts of the district and province. He mentioned that it helps the youth to excel in sports and helps in utilizing positively and constructively their free time.
Meeting with the General Manager of the Texas Alarms Security Company was very useful in that the plans are underway to have a continuous training for the security officers.
The Operations Manager of the KK Guards Security company, expressed optimism that the TIMD training of the security guards will be enhanced so that it can reinstate the No. 1 winning awards in the international Trade Fair Exhibitions.
Live Interview with the Media
I participated a live media interview with two radio Stations; Pwani FM and Baraka FM. The focus of the interview was to explain the aspects of Tong- Il Moo-Do in terms of Features, Benefits of TIMD training, the difference between TIMD and other martial arts and the plan for next year
The Member of Parliament for the area, who also serves as an assistant Minister in the cabinet, Hon. Ananiah Mwaboza presented some training equipment to the participants. The equipment comprised of protective head gears for juniors and seniors, shin guards and sparring shoes.
In his brief speech, he encouraged the practitioners to put more efforts, be more disciplined and to become good examples in the society. He pledged to give support where the need arises to enhance the talent-development of the youth.
The presentation ceremony was covered by the Nation Newspaper and TV.
