This semester began rather smooth. The Evening and Morning training schedules were categorically organized into different date. Specially, morning training, from 6am to 7am Monday through Saturday has been organized by levels ranks. For instances, Monday morning practice focus only on form of peace, and Tuesday is form of True Love, so and forth. We also have incorporated Judo focused training on Monday. Two weeks into the semester, we did 20 minute short demonstration and 3 new sisters joined, as the result we have total of 7 sisters and 15 brothers enrolling. We also tried survey question to gain some feed back from students regarding the method of practice and over the entire program. Through the survey, we have developed individual internal and external goal setting sheets which support each practitioner to set up own monthly and semester goals also decided to have exhibition day for all students to perform their newly learned techniques and forms in the middle of the semester. Also, Wednesday and Friday regular evening practice is taught by Mr. Sato, Mr.Ko, and assisted by Ravil and Mr.Mori.
Outreaching Activity through Tong-Il Moo-Do has gradually progressed. For example, Ravil has taught at the Deburux Foundation (mostly teens who received domestic violence, some with minor mental disability and etc lives in this community). From this semester, 3 other UTS Tong-Il Moo-Do students and myself assist Ravil, due to the increase of students up to 25. Response from staffs at the foundation were great, they all agreed that kids behavior has progressed, and all students were very excited about weekly practice. On Friday, the Germantown Central high school held Japanese Cultural day and invited UTS Tongil Moo Do for demonstration. There were about 60 students, 6 faculty members, including school principle observed our 25 minute long demonstration. And next 20 minute, all students jointed together for practice. Students and faculties were fascinated by the Demonstration and we will have discussion on after school training session at the High School.
Our Vision is to increase of UTS TIMD students, since UTS expecting 30~40 new American 2nd generation students coming from this fall, plus additional students from Japan. Further more, we will continue outreach local public high school to expand our foundation.
Month of April will have Global youth service day. And IRFF, Sharing of Blessing and TIMD will co sponsor the City wide one day youth volunteer project. There, youth from different religions faith such as muslin, Christian etc as well as various local public schools teens will meet to do massive service action and at the finale, Tong-Il Moo-Do will perform demonstration.
Mr. Sato, Mr. Ueno and myself were invited to one day seminar at the NY city TongIl Moo Do Academy locate at 2nd floor 43rd street building) on Sunday 3/5.
