The year started very well by clubs revising the real purpose of training Tong-IL Moo-Do and setting goals for 2006. Among the goals is to multiply the TIMD Membership, hold Demonstrations, Tournaments, do service for peace activities and put more emphasis on Tong-IL Moo-Do Philosophy and Character education.
All this towards raising reliable future Tong-IL Moo-Do instructors and virtue filled members.
33 students attended the National grading. The number was very significant for the new years first grading for if split midway (.3 - 3.) it could represent 2 - Three Growing Periods; Formation, Growth & Perfection. We had 3 Brown Belts and the other 30 were Blue-Brown stripe to White Belt.
Most members had white Belts and Yellow Belts, which showed the growth of Tong-IL Moo-Do membership.
Grading participants were drawn from the National capital Nairobi and the Eastern Province (200kilometres away) Clubs; -University of Nairobi, African Nazarene University, St Gabriel-Nairobi, Kangemi community-Nrb. and the newly opened YMCA TIMD Club in Meru (Eastern Province).
Master Hillary on Behalf of Master Edwin Aketch who was in an Ambassadors For Peace Conference oversaw the Grading. Other instructors were, Anthony Harvey, Francis Wambua, Ishmael, Willies, Davies and Clarence Mwakio
The students showed a strong spirit of perseverance as they did, many counts in Basics, Forms, One Step Sparring, Rolling and in Free Sparring of which the Brown belts did 22 rounds of none-stop full contact Sparring. This really showed their strong Tong-IL Moo-Do spirit of Endurance.
The grading results were given to the 30 members and the 3 Brown Belts recommended to be forwarded to the International office. There were; - 6-Yellow Belt., 12-Yellow Belt/Green Stripe., 8-Green Belt, 1-Green Belt Blue/Stripe., 2-Blue Belt and 1-Brown Belt.
The next event will be the TIMD Provincial Championship for April 1st 2006, which shall be held in all provinces concurrently.
