TIMD camp in Abtsdorf, Germany

June 2, 2006

Like every year, our traditional Tong-il Moo-Do camp took place in Abtsdorf. From June 2nd to June 5th thirty-four students came together to practice numerous forms, various circle techniques, self-defence, one-step-sparring and further martial arts elements.

As usual, the first training began with jogging and some strenuous exercises in the open country. Under the leadership of Master Schulze and Master Felsch several TIMD units followed - six to eight hours a day. In the evenings we had time to relax and we ended the days with barbecue and campfire.

A highlight was a unit with Sensei Richter, who presented the style Goju-Ryu. He made us familiar with the basic principles of this martial art, gave us new inspiration and taught us new techniques of self-defence and throws.

Another highlight was the Second Annual Yushinkan Cup, which was divided into two parts: form/self-defence and free fight. It was the first time, the official TIMD rules were used. After every student had performed the form of his or her choice and a "self-created" self-defence, we could enjoy the exciting fights of our high graduated members. In the category "fight" Christian Breu became first, Sebastian Schmidt second and Christian Hedke third. In the category "form", Bjorn Wilkens was first, Philipp Voigt second and Christian Hetke third. After all, it was a great time and everyone profited greatly from it.
