Second generation grading in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

August 5, 2006

The grading took place on the 5th August -2006 in the Educational center of Toit Rouge, Abidjan. The participants consisted of the Second generation from TIMD Yop Academy and TIMD Koumassi Clubs.

The children had been training for more than 3 months and so their grading was due and very anticipated by the children who kept on reminding their parents that they should pay for the grading. The ones who made it to the grading venue were accompanied by their parents who came to witness for themselves what their children had been learning.

The arrival time was 9.30 a.m and so we had time to prepare and start at 10.00 a.m During the grading we could actually appreciate the fact that the second generation are so determined to succeed in everything that they undertake, they demonstrated a very indomitable spirit each one of them unique and creative. Some of the kids who were not participating in the grading demonstrated some self-defense techniques and forms to the delight of all of us.

All the participants qualified for a higher level they ranged from yellow belt to blue belt. Words of guidance and encouragement were given by the instructor Moriba Kone who was presiding the grading assisted by Susan Kone and Kouame Khassy Georges. My observation is that the second generations are such great hope for the TIMD activities in Africa and we shall continue encouraging them so that they can take an active role in promoting our activities in schools and colleges
