"International Tong-il Moo-do Workshop was held from April 4th to 10th in 2007 at UCF building in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thailand was so much blessed with the visit of Dr. Joon Ho Seuk, the president of World Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation from March 2nd to 4th. He gave us many inspirations during that time, and Master Hoshiko was given the direction from him to hold the TIMD workshop in Thailand. During the workshop, we had the chance to show the demonstration in front of the youth leaders. They were very excited when they saw the demonstration. Receiving the guidance from Dr. Seuk, and being inspired by the demonstration, the chairman of TIMD Federation of Thailand, Mr. Pasit said to them that all of them and their members should practice TIMD.
At the Opening Ceremony of the workshop, Mr. Pasit Sirimalai came and his opening remark provided them with the spirit of unwavering support and inspiration for all the participants as well as the audience alike. All participants were very grateful for his message. Master Takamitsu Hoshiko and Master Venus Agustin were the head instructors and there were a total of 47 TIMD participants joined the special training program.
The participants were from Karate-do, Taekwondo, Wonhwa-do and Tong-il Moo-do. Their nationalities were from Thailand, Cambodia and Philippines. Everyone wanted to develop their own techniques more. During the workshop there were also the lectures on "A New Philosophy for the Martial Arts" It helped each participants to know more about how to be the good instructors.
The daily schedule started from 5.00 am and ended at 10:00 pm. At 5.00 am, there was reading of the messages of Dr. Moon who gave the inspiration to Tong-Il Moo-Do and these messages were explained by the instructors to the participants. On April 4-5 there were lectures for the whole day. On April 6-10, was a practice for the whole day on how to teach what they had learned
The topic such as "A New Philosophy for the Martial Arts" was lectured by master Hoshiko and he also gave inspirations to all participants. Since most of the participants were young people, they started to realize more clearly that the important thing as a martial artist is to keep their mind and body pure before marriage through the training of martial arts in order to build a good family in the future. Participants felt that what they had learned from the lecture could be collated with their Thai culture based on Buddhism.
With the participants enthusiasm and interest, as I stated before, they did receive a lot of martial arts techniques during the workshop. They were able to develop their own techniques aside from their background in their martial arts style. The instructors and practitioners of Taekwon-do and Karate-do learned also about throwing, grappling, falling, etc.
On the last day, written test was given to all participants on "A New Philosophy for the Martial Arts" and followed by a promotion test thereafter.
We hope that we can develop great foundation of Tong-Il Moo-Do in Thailand through constant training.
