GRADING at COAST PROVINCE, MOMBASA KENYA

May 5, 2007

This was the first grading in the region this year and all people were really prepared for it. The previous week all members had been receiving Character Educating Lecturers from Instructor Clarence and Ibrahim.

Three main TIMD Clubs from Mombasa merged at the Police Dog Unit Tong-IL Moo-Do Club ready for the grading. We had KK Security,Texas Alarms and Police Dog Unit TIMD Clubs.

Master Hillary Ochieng' had arrived from Nairobi the same morning and we immediately went to the venue to start the program.

We started off with a Service for Peace Clean Up activity around the Provincial Dog Unit Headquarters by slashing and making flower garden among other cleaning jobs.

We did make a face lift and the Senior Police officers there were really great full and commended our efforts. They really saw the other side of the Tong-IL Moo-Do students since most people thought the persons train only how to fight bad guys or perform in tournaments. they realized there is alot of training on building character and raiseng leaders for the feature capable of taking care of themselves , others and the environment sorrounding them/Creation.

After the clean up we had a short lunch break and assembled at the Police Dojang ready for the Grading.

We had 25 participants for the grading and a big audience with parents,Relatives and friends. We also had special representatives of the Coast Dog Unit Police Boss/ TIMD Club Patron SP.Limo,Chief Inspector Maina and Inspector Oduory - Sergent John Ireri and Corporal Mwangi. The General Manager of KK SECURITY Mr.Bill Brooks and KK Security Radio Alarms Manager Dan Omondi also attended the Grading Ceremony. Among the audience was a Kenya Military officer Mr.Frank who also trains at the Police club.

The grading was very tough and the students really sweated to get the belts for they did many rounds of basics and forms were also done very well. The students performed circular forms very well begining with Pyung Hwa Eui Bon to Chamsarang Eui Bon.

Instructor Ibtrahim Mchumba a Senior Brown Belt coordinated the Grading as Master Hillary and I oversaw the whole event through tasting and paperwork assessment.

Among the 25 participants all were promoted and we resulted with 1-Yellow Belt, 5-Yellow Belt Green with Stripe, 6-Green Belt, 5-Green Belt with Blue Stripe, 4-Blue Belt, 2-Blue Belt with Brown Stripe and 2 Brown Belts.

The Brown Belts were awarded to Gilbert Mayar and Daniel Wanyonyi who have always been very hard working and extremely commited to training plus have always been highly disciplined.

We also had a lady and three young boys getting high belts and we hope if they train harder can get to Black Belt possibly next year.

The grading ended at around 7p.m. after Master Hillary gave closing remarks and reminded them the most important purpose of training Tong-IL Moo-Do was internal growth and character development in order for us to achieve the three life goals which are Maturity in Character, Establishing Ideal Loving Families and Making Positive Contribution to the Society through Creativity and Mastery.

There is a great improvement in Tong-Il Moo-Do membership and now we have 5 active clubs including a new one for the Second Generation.

The future looks bright for Tong-IL Moo-Do.
