Light Academy Schools started off climbing the academic levels in Kenya since 1998 and the schools' performance in the Kenya National Examination and the International System (IGCSE) has been very outstanding.
I last years Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Nairobi Light became the 9th best school in the country and the 2nd best private school in the country while Mombasa Light became position 51 Nationaly, 6th in Coast Province and 2nd Best Private School in the Province.
The Graduation Ceremony brought together all of last years examination candidates, their families and the Teachers.
The occasion was graced by the Light Academy Director, The Provincial Director of Education - Coast Province and Atila Ibrahim the Principle Light Academy Mombasa, who was their host.
I Attendance was Mr.Engin Gul who founded the School Tong-IL Moo-Do Club together with Master Clarence in 2005. Mr. Engin is now in the Nairobi Light Academy - Karen Campus and has also started another Tong-IL Moo-Do Club there being trained by Master Hillary Ochieng.
The number of Tong-IL Moo-Do students has been increasing gradually and the school now has over 20 students actively training.
The Performance coordinated by Mr.Gurhan, Mr.Habel and Master Clarence was well arranged and it thrilled the large audience in the Bandari College Hall.
We did Basic techniques, Advanced Basics, Pyung Hwa Eui Bon (Form of Peace), Sawi Gidae Eui Bon (Form Of Four Position Foundation) with the whole team under the leadership of the School Team Captain Nephat Odhiambo and senior club member Hesbon Nyang'ong'a.
Sung Hwa Eui Bon(Form of Harmonious Youth) was done by senior club members while Cham Gajung Eui Bon was done by Master Clarence, Istructor Gilbert Mayar a Black belt and Emmanuel Sirengo a Blue Belt with Brown stripe.
We also did Self Defence and the most interesting was breaking techniques which showed young students breaking hard roofing tiles with a climax of a jump over five persons and breaking two tiles in a small performance stage
The audience was happy about the performance by their young sons and later on they were awarded their grading certificates by the Principle Mr. Atila Ibrahim who has been very supportive and observant in the training and development of Tong-IL Moo-Do in the School.
The students were very useful on that day and two of our smart boys - Collins Ikiara(Assistant Captain) and Farouk Omar dressed in white Dobok were ushers in the hall helping out with duties.
The event went well and got encouraged by the school management to put more effort in training hard and performing well in future tournaments.
