PAN AMERICAN MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT.

June 23rd, 2010

At 10:00am on June 23rd, Master Herbert “Dada”Inocalla an International instructor of Philippine martial arts with his three students gave a special course of ARNIS KALI. Arnis Kali is a native martial arts using knifes in different sizes, sticks in different lengths & dimension. He emphasized the importance on how a person should defend himself and maintain health at the same time, and on how a person should overcome his fear and feel secure for himself. He taught different self defense techniques using different weapon such as?knife?&?sticks.

At 4:00pm, Master Miguel Nabi from Amapa, Brazil started to do some exercises and basics to all participants until Master Takamitsu Hoshiko arrived around 2:00pm. He started teaching around 5:00pm one step sparring, formation stage with complete application of punching, kicking, blocking, striking, throwing, locking and choking. There were around thirty three participants from Karate, Tae kwon do, Judo, Kung fu, Muay Thai.

In the evening at 8:00pm, we took dinner with Dr Sim?o, the president of Unification movement in Brazil, together with Pastor Boubacar the state leader of Goais. And at the end we reviewed the lectures for conference on the following day.

In June 24, at 8:30am the Conference started with the Theme: “How Sports can contribute to the formation for a better world.’. Instructor Wallisson Delano who was the master of ceremony started to call the Lecturers and authority.Master Hoshiko was called to talk about how important to raise our character, and become a harmonious person, and cited the main purpose of Tong Il Moo Do which is firstly to raise a person to become an ideal person, build a strong character , secondly is to have an ideal family, that has a capacity to love and thirdly, to contribute to our community, by serving others.

Then was called Dr Carlos Sterse Lemonge, Dr Sim?o Ferabolli president of Unification Movement in Brazil, Dr Edson Tavares of ‘porto seco’ which is export and import company and co-sponsor of this event, and Pastor Leordino who is the president of association of evangelical church in anapolis. Dr Iranser University professor of Physical education expressed the great satisfaction to hold this event in Anapolis, and to find a way to help for all the young people giving warm welcome to Anapolis, and thanking for the organizing committee.

There were 3 conferences:
Dr Neudir Simao Ferabolli -President of the Unification Movement in Brazil.
His topic was “How Sport can contribute for the formation of a better world’. Showing the problems of the youth in Brazil based upon factual data, he said, “Why do we need to educate & spiritualize a human being? Because of our spiritual nature, affective nature, creative nature, understanding and compromise, nature of being a perfectionist, legacy of history as a human race, desire to become happy.” He continued saying, “ The internal development is the most important………The family is the school of Love.. The basic values of the society can not be changed in the passing of the time. ”
1. DR CARLSO STERSE
His topic was “SPORTS & FAMILY”. He spoke about five elements to change a human being:
1. Self esteem - trusting yourself
2. Vision - starting point of everyone, dreams, goal,
3. Purpose - we should believe in ourselves that we can do something beyond ourselves. If we have purpose to realize something it could give us more strength to overcome any difficulty. To have a purpose is the answer to have meaning in our life.
4. Compromise - a promise to go on without backing up with the objectives, purpose, goal .You have the will to do it with conviction, because you have interest in yourself to do something worth while.
5. Contribuition to do something for our generations.
1. Dr Neudir Simao Ferabolli
His topic was “Education of Character through Sports”. He said, “ How to become a differentiated athlete?” and mentioned ATTITUDES, THINKING & ON HEART. Then he quoted from lessons of the life of Oscar(famous basketball player in Brazil):
1. Pain and suffering is a part of the uniform of the athlete.
2. You can only win when you overcome your limits
3. Decision in our life
4. Team in order to win we should have a team playing with you
5. Abstention: determination, persistent, courage, security
6. Liking to do what to do.
And he referred to principles of martial arts:
1. Essence , vital energy, spirit
2. Balance & gentleness
3. Constant training
4. Discipline
5. Self–perfection
6. Self defense
7. Sacrifice
There were about 200 participants from different state and municipal schools, civic leaders, Professors , martial arts athletes, and participants of the tournaments and community leaders in Anapolis city.

At 8:30am on June 25, M?ster Hoshiko started the training. Doing exercises and stretching he started training of circular motions. He taught first basic circular motion, then basic sparring techniques applying circular motion. Master Hoshiko was paired by Master Miguel Nabi ,the participant from Amapa, and is translated by Angel Gonzales from Columbia. There were thirty participants. Participants came from the practitioners of Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Kung fu. One step sparring techniques were interesting for all participants, because it has complete techniques of martial arts.

At 3:00pm, the training continued with master Hoshiko, repeating the one step sparring techniques, pairng all participants. After one hour, Master Reinchi Dilson Santos, from Rio de Janiero (brother of master Delio santos) started the KOBUDO techniques with long sticks. He taught step by step, and performed the basic techniques. Master Dilson is actually an instructor of self defense in Militar Club in Rio de Janeiro.

At 7:00pm the preparation for the opening ceremony started. It was organized according to participating nations and their style of martial arts.

At 7:30pm started the opening ceremony, and the sponsors of the event were mentioned. And MC stated the participating countries, and called the names of VIP authorities of Master Hoshiko, vice president of TIMD International, Dr Carlos Sterse Lemonge , municipal judge , Delegado de Policia Civil de Goias and President of Judo Josmar Gon?alves do Amaral , Dr Antonio Santos Policia Federal of Goias. Ademir Marinho Secretary of Sports , Jose Antonio Gomide municipal mayor of Anapolis, Goias.

Then MC called the participants, Panama kung fu, Columbia Tong-Il Moo-Do, Paraguay Tae Kwon-Do, Peru Karate, Venezuela Capoiera, Brazil judo, karate and jiujitsu. Then the municipal mayor of anapolis raised the flag of Brazil with the national anthem of Brazil together with the flag of the state of Goais, and the municipal flag of Anapolis. Next the pledge of the athletes was cited by Instructor Wallisson Delano.

Greetings by Reinchi Delio Santos to the authorities was followed by Dr Carlos Lemonge Sterse, who said, “Its my great pleasure to be here with you, thanking the mayor and secretary of sports and the efforts of instructor Wallisson Delano and Delio Santos. Tournaments are good for us to develop our character, and become a person who brings that determinations to be a part of our life. Thank you very much for all of your presence.”

Master Hoshiko said, “ Good evening everybody. My greetings to all authorities who are presents here. And thank you for all the participants from other countries. The original meaning of martial arts is to learn a way of life. I can see many athletes and many instructors striving themselves to guide these young people. It is my pleasure to see all of you. Brazil is becoming the well known country because of many international events in sports, like in 2014 the world cup in 2016 the Olympic games and now in the world cup Brasil is doing best and has a possibility to be the world champion. So Brazil has the potential to be the best country in the world, and I hope that through martial arts we can help raise up this nation to be the best. Thank you very much.”

Judo making a presentation of basic fallings and throwing techniques, simultaneously with Capoiera, Karate, Jiujitsu, Tong-Il Moo-Do in the other side. Then the final posing for a picture with everybody.

There were about 300 people in the gymnasium to see the magnificent demonstration, with the presence of municipal mayor, vice mayor, secretary of sports, municipal deputy, chief delegate of civil police in the state of Goias, and many other authorities.

June 26: FORM COMPETITIONS:
From 8:00am the form competition started for children and youth division. In the afternoon the form competition of Black belts and adults was taken place. There were four courts available for the simultaneous competitions in different categories. The most masters from Karate and the head of the Delegations became the judges.

1st place: Kanashiro – Karate Goias, Brazil
2nd place: Ivan Oviedo- Taekwondo, Paraguay
3rd place: Marcelo Ferreira – TIMD, Amapa,Brasil & Denir Gomes Silva-Karate, Goias Brazil

June 27:
At 8:00am the sparring competitions started with the categories of 9 years old up to 17 years old. In the afternoon started the adults’ competition for colored belts and black belt division, in both individual competition and team competition. The judges for the black belts division is controlled by the Tong Il Moo Do masters., in the central court Master Miguel Nabi Bitencourt as the main judge and in the second court Master Omar Medina. They were appreciated by Master Hoshiko for being strict and firm with the decision.

In the evening on the closing ceremony there were more than 200 participants with 50 VIP s including the Bishop in catholic church of Anapolis, and many civic leaders and business men. Mater Hoshiko gave a powerful closing speech emphasizing Dr Sun Myung Moon who gave the spiritual inspiration to Tong-Il Moo-Do, and his activities in pursuit to bring world peace of humankind.

June 28 :
All Tong-Il Moo-Do participants who came from different countries had a meeting at 8:00am at the suite room of Master Hoshiko. He expressed his appreciation for everybody to come to this event and asked everybody to share their experience during this event. Master Diosdada translated into Portuguese and Master Angel from Columbia translated into Spanish.

And after that we shared lunch together at the restaurant. And around 2:30 pm we said goodbye to everyone, and Paraguay participants took a bus to return home, master Hoshiko and Amapa delegation went together to the airport to return home. With so much hope that Tong-Il Moo -Do in Brazil will continue to develop and can serve to guide young people to contribute peaceful and harmonious world.
